Impact damage and replacement planning
Commercial overhead door panel damage guide
A dent can be cosmetic, or it can affect the panel structure, hinge attachment, rollers, weather seal, and normal travel. Good photos and accurate product identification make it easier to compare a panel replacement with a complete new door package.
Inspection guidance
Assess the condition without forcing the door.
- Photograph the full door from inside and outside, then photograph each damaged panel, hinge, roller, seal, and track area.
- Note whether the damage is a shallow dent, crease, tear, puncture, cracked section, bowed panel, or damage around hardware attachment points.
- Check whether the door still appears square and whether the damaged area affects normal closing, sealing, or travel.
- Record door width, height, insulation, window layout, panel profile, color, manufacturer, and product tag information when available.
Routine
Use a simple inspection schedule.
Photograph the full opening and damage before normal operation resumes.
Review damaged doors for worsening panel movement, gaps, hardware issues, or weather intrusion.
Compare the existing panel profile, color, insulation, window layout, and door model with the proposed product.
Price a complete replacement when matching panels are unavailable, damage is extensive, or recurring repairs no longer make sense.
When you need product pricing
Send the details that make a quote useful.
An inspection does not always mean replacement. If a door has recurring failures, extensive damage, obsolete components, or repair costs that no longer make sense, RidgePoint can price a replacement door package or specified components.
